Transportation

Transportation to and from school is provided for all students who live more than 1.5 miles from Edison and within the city limits of Chicago. Those students living within the 1.5 mile boundary who need school bus service must complete the School Safety Hazard Application along with the Standard Application for approval from CPS. If you are routed and need to request a stop change, please complete this form and submit it to the school.

Per CPS guidelines, bus drivers are instructed to wait until pick-up time if they arrive early. Drivers are instructed to wait three minutes if they arrive on time, so students should be at their sites at their scheduled time to avoid missing the bus.

Occasionally, traffic, weather, or mechanical problems, or a substitute driver may delay buses. Students should wait a reasonable amount of time before calling the bus company or returning home, or before going to the neighborhood school. In the event of inclement weather, if Chicago Public School busing service is unavailable, students should report to their neighborhood school to avoid being marked absent for the day. The neighborhood school will notify Edison of the student's attendance.
